Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is an American Canadian singer and songwriter. She has more than twenty albums. Her songs are classified by the label as alternative and folk. They also have influences from hip hop as well as jazz, and punk. Ani Difranco has been deemed as a feminist icon and a Grammy award winner. Being one of the women's first artists of the 1990s, DiFranco founded her own record label. DiFranco was born in Buffalo New York on September 23rd of 1970, she was the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross) and Dante Americo DiFranco, who had made acquaintance while studying at an institution called the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father is Italian heritage, while her mother is from Montreal. Ani diFranco was the composer and singer of the track 32 Flavors. The track was released on her fifth studio album Not a Pretty Girl which was released in 1995. On the soundtrack of 1999's Canadian romantic film Better Than Chocolate is a version of the song. In 2013 DiFranco apologized when it was discovered that she planned to host a three-day workshop at a former Louisiana plantation for slaves. The event was cancelled However, many (including the media) did not see it as a sign of regret. DiFranco issued an additional apology a couple of weeks following. While she is known as Little Peoplesinger, she has worked with many musicians and artists, from Pete Seeger through Chuck D up to Prince. New Orleans is her home. Ani DiFranco lives with Kristen Ford. In just 14 months, DiFranco began writing her own lyrics. Teens were filled with performing them in bars as well as coffee shops. DiFranco went to Buffalo State College after graduating aged 16 from the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts. Ani's new baritone was created by custom Alvarez, made by Chrys Johnston, who at the time was working as the Alvarez Artist Rep. The guitar is constructed from solid wood and has the top being made of cedar and the sides. It also has it's System 600 Preamp. DiFranco lives at home with her two kids in New Orleans and Lefty, their dog with long legs who is always in the frame. DiFranco acknowledges that more than three decades after her initial appearance on the music scene, she isn't sure what to expect when looking at her past. Punk/folk singer-songwriter Ani DiFranco ascended to musical hero recognition at age 25 in the eyes of both her fans and critics after her seventh release Not A Pretty Girl in 1995. She then had even more acclaim and recognition through Dilate In 1996. The song Brandy (You're a Fine Girl) is a song released in 1972 by American pop group Looking Glass from their debut album Looking Glass. Elliot Lurie wrote the song.
