She began her career in the field as a child, when she was just 10 years young. The year 1985 saw her enrolled with Rounder Records and in 1987 released her debut solo album. The band invited her to join the group with which she still performs Alison Krauss and Union Station as well as releasing her debut album as a group in 1989.
